Grace Davis High School Music Classes
Mark Davila has been the music teacher at Davis since 2013. Presently the music classes available at Davis consist of orchestra, guitar, piano, and music technology. When Gregori High School opened in 2010, the band program at Davis took a big hit. Presently there is no band program at Davis. Mr. Davila is planning on changing that by the school year starting in 2019. We wish him well.

The Annual Modesto City Schools Elementary Music Festival was held at Johansen High School Gymnasium. It took 3 nights to include all of the particpating schools, March 20th, March 21st, and March 22nd. This included Elementary and Junior High School Bands and Orchestras. All the students received a particpation award sponsored by Gottschalk Music Center.

As students progress from elementary through junior high and eventually to high school they have decisions to make…how to juggle all the classes they need. It is not always easy to include music classes in their choices, but it is always worthwhile. There are many music classes offered at Modesto Junior College. We have already shown the community concert band and orchestra in MusicMakers. This month we will feature the electronic classes of David Dow, and the Beatles classes of Steven Grubb. You may have heard the Beatles wafting through the air as you have traveled down the music building corridor. I know I have. Very refreshing. MJC has many high quality transferable classes at an affordable price. Check it out. And there are many local venues that feature local musicians too. We are lucky to have all kinds of music available in this city. Maybe I’ll see you out there. Have a good month.
